The distributor-less ignition system (DIS) is the most commonly used ignition type in modern vehicles due to its efficiency, reliability, and advancements in technology. DIS eliminates the need for a traditional distributor, which can be a source of mechanical failure due to wear and tear. Instead, it uses multiple ignition coils, typically one for each cylinder, that are controlled by the vehicle’s onboard computer or engine control unit (ECU).
